First cameras, then coffee, and now baked goods; where does the research end? Great episode, though (aren’t they all?). We’ve got a couple novel character interactions this week, a light powdering of morality, and some finely piped insanity. Look forward to it.

A lot of personal growth and self-discovery this episode, an old friend back for a short appearance, and suddenly Yuru Camp tutorials, though Aoi’s narrating this time instead of Snake. Also, suffering. Coffee’s a helluva drug.
never forget: camera eats first
Honoka’s been in the OP/ED the whole time but this week she finally actually shows up, bringing an unnecessary amount of camera jargon (and some particular Eurobeat…) with her. Lovely episode, though I am missing Kaede.

Fantastic episode. A bit of flair with the animation again, some really touching character growth, and a few new faces, too. Also, a special throwback musical surprise.
The only note is that the Saitama Seibu Lions are the baseball team that represents Saitama (including Hannou). They appear to be pretty decent.
OFFICER I GOT ONE QUESTION FOR YOU
Nice, easy-going episode. I said we were back to typical last week, but we’re really back in the normal Susume groove this time: climbing mountains, complaining, having fun anyway. But we’ve got a couple bonuses in a fantastic new OP and some nice character interaction between a pair that we don’t usually see in isolation. I hope you enjoy it.

After that atmospheric miracle what was the first episode, we’re back to more typical territory. Episode 2 doesn’t feel much at all like Yuru Camp (though Yukichi’s back, and he’s actually being used this time; the Yamas (bar Kokona) are rather better off than their hobo Yuru counterparts) and instead recalls the First Season in a number of different ways; especially, the main focus of the episode should remind you of a very similar shopping trip back in the OG. Also, contrasting the perfectly consistent and on-model first episode, there’s some very distinct, stylish animation and a fairly unconventional artstyle this time. Being fairly varied with respect to the visuals has always been one of the more interesting sides of Susume (alas, this season’s OP falls a bit short of the Second’s) (see also: Kancolle, but the game, not the anime), and it’s nice to see that coming back.
Great episode; what else can I say? Oh, right, the notes are what else I can say.
yfw your show gets a third season
Welcome to Summer! We’re extremely fortunate to be getting another cour of this wonderful show, and I’m pleased beyond words to be able to bring it to you. It is a truth universally acknowledged that cute girl shows get better with additional seasons, and this Third one hits the ground running with an opening episode as touching, relatable, and miraculous as Yama no Susume’s always been. And with the atmosphere and scenery in this episode, that particular opening shot, and an unexpectedly jazzy OP, it seems to have picked up more than a little of Yuru Camp’s special magic as well. They should have called it Yama Camp. Yuru no Susume. Yuru Yama no Camp Susume: Δ Season. I’ve got high hopes; get ready for an excellent summer.
P.S. Sorry about the delay. First episode, you know. To be clear, my fault. Next week (this week) should be much faster, and we’ll try to beat Episode 3’s air date.

Hisone and Masotan
Everything has once more come to a close, and a new beginning of rebirth. While thinking upon and overcoming each of their own regrets and insecurities, we’ve watched all of these characters reach a new chapter of their lives. Although it was only a small amount of time, and they were only able to change one tiny part of history, the waves of repercussions will travel into the future, and hopefully be able to change someone else’s life for the better. Translating Hisone and Masotan did have its difficulties, as many fantasy themed anime have, but at the core of it the heart and soul of each character remained my impetus and guiding light each week. And from here on out, even if only a little, I too will think hard on what I take for granted, and the value that exists between me and others. And maybe, if I can, I’ll become a little more honest in my own life, both to myself and to those around me. Thank you once more for joining us on this flight through Okada Mari’s (and Higuchi Shinji’s) world. May you shine brighter than the stars.
tsuru: Hello hello, tsuru here. HisoMaso was an… interesting show to work on. Between the military terminology and ranks; the weird English (?) terms like ‘レアメタル’; obscure titles (taifu and the rest); their own personal terms like matsurigoto, fushido, and kusabime, all three of which we got wrong; and random other crap (the legendary comm-bus, which thankfully only showed up the one time), the show exacted a blood toll, though at least it was Japanese this time and not Greek. Overall, it was a bit different and just about entertaining enough, but perhaps a little like the $20 box of White Lovers I saw in my local supermarket the other day: probably decent, but not at that price. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed coming dragonvoring with us and agree that Iiboshi is best girl. Tune in again next season for batch fixing, mountain climbing, magic casting, room camping, and last touring. Thanks as always for watching.
