Shingeki no Kyojin – Volume 01

Well, this took longer than expected.
This is a Crunchyroll edit, no honorifics because the editor decided on it. (Mainly because the show isn’t set in Japan at all.)
Also, it might take a few days for this to pop up on the XDCC bot.

Of course, I’ll get to working on it as soon as the new encoding server is up. (Which should be in a couple of days)

Your editor is an idiot. H/She only has to use honorifics when it’s actually spoken of… *gasp*
And that “show isn’t set in Japan” is beyond idiotic and redundant. Again, your editor is an idiot. Japan isn’t the only country that uses honorifics plus it doesn’t change the fact that the production is in Japan which at times depending on show may use honorifics despite the setting! *gasp* Shocking!

I already have few days ago with Flax. I just wanted to comment because that sparked something in me with the same excuses not to use honorifics that’s been over used. It’s 2013 it’s time to stop with the ignorance.

I was interested in a BD version using a CR edition of Shingeki since I only watched one CR based translation and that was this past week with gg’s TL on break. I don’t know if CR used honorifics but if they did then the editor went out of his/her way to exclude it which would say a lot on their stance with honorifics.

This is the sort of thing that gets me. I am all for japanaphilia, that’s cool. Jerk it all over about the culture, the people, the shows, etc.

At the end of the day, though, this is an English release that in no way, shape or form benefits from the use of Japanese honorifics. They are overshadowed by military titles such as Captain and Commander. Secondly, are you deaf? Can you not pick up the “-kun”s and the “-san”s on your own?

And finally, Japan is notthe only country to have honorifics, I agree. Why not instead of “Pixis-san” have “Mr. Pixis”? Same shit, except *gasp* it falls more in line with an English translation than Japanese terms do.

To quote you, it’s goddamned 2013, this is a goddamned cartoon that is not so overtly Japanese that it needs to have Japanese honorifics. Or just learn Japanese.

Then we would have EREEEEN SAMAAAAAA? I can’t remember having heard any honorifics until now. And that’s a good thing in such show. Seriously, it’s like hearing King Arthur Sama….. That’s totally shiit…..

Because it’s unnecessary bloat and there will be literally no difference between a well-encoded AAC and FLAC. (That is, unless you’re a superhuman.)

Will you guys continue this? Because the Vol.2 is already out and you haven’t posted subs for it so I was wondering.
